Oklahoma Military Department

 

 

STARBASE OKLAHOMA Oklahoma is sponsored by the citizen/soldiers of the Oklahoma National Guard. The Air National Guard hosts STARBASE on their bases in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The 138th Fighter Wing in Tulsa provides administrative offices for STABASE Oklahoma and both Tulsa and the 137th Refueling Wing at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base in Oklahoma City provide classrooms for the program. Each site hosts tours and provide opportunities for students to experience military technology.

 

Army National Guard

The Army National Guard hosts rocket launches at the Tulsa Army Aviation Support Facility as well as providing a classroom computer lab. Camp Gruber National Training Center near Braggs. Oklahoma hosts one of three Native American Initiative classrooms. The Whitaker Education and Training Center in Pryor hosts the second classroom. The Davis Field Armory hosts the third NAI site for STARBASE.

Oklahoma NASA Space Grant Consortium

The Oklahoma Space Grant Consortium partners with STARBASE to provide a funding for student materials and support. This partnership began in 1995 and continues today with STARBASE Oklahoma, Inc. named as an Affliate of the OSGC for the past three years.



Aerospace Professional Development Center

The Aerospace Professional Development Center located at Oklahoma State University provides all of the NASA resource materials to teachers in this area through the STARBASE Oklahoma Resource Center.

The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission provides student rockets and materials as well as teacher training through grant funding for the program. For the 2008-09 school year, OAC is providing funding for upgrading software and equipment for the computer labs for all STARBASE sites in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority

The Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority (OSIDA) is co-sponsoring a major exhibit with STARBASE that will be housed at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Tulsa, Oklahoma.


Camp Gruber

Camp Gruber provides classroom facilities for STARBASE.

The Gerrity Chapter of the Air Force Association at Tinker Air Force Base became a partner in the spring of 2008 when they provided funding for classroom materials and software for the Will Rogers classroom site in Oklahoma City.

Friends of STARBASE Oklahoma during the past 16 years have included:

Sarkeys Foundation

The Sarkeys Foundation has provided grant funding for STARBASE for outreach student supplies and teacher materials and resources. The four-year funding provided hands-on Science, Technology and Mathematics instruction for more than 10 years.

Tulsa Air and Space Museum

The Tulsa Air and Space Museum that provided an aerospace environment for STARBASE children with a state of the art computer lab and flight simulators.


Spartan School of Aeronautics

Spartan Aviation provides a well equipped classroom next to the Air and Space Museum for STARBASE classes.
